Hello, I am Grace Dawson Ilott. I am a Salt Lake City based artist who paints almost exclusively acrylic on canvas.
I have been painting since I was a little girl. My true passion for art started when I was in high school. After graduating from high school I spent two years at The University of New Haven, spent one semester with an Interior Design Major and promptly switched my major to Fine Art. After that I transferred to Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, MA. I then spent the next few years learning everything I could in my major of painting. I graduated in 2013 with a Fine Arts Degree and moved to Salt Lake City, UT with my now husband. I didn't know it yet but Utah would be my muse. Her sublime beauty and landscapes of grandeur we're unlike anything I had ever seen. For the next 12 years I painted non stop, from plein air landscapes in nature to abstract dreamlike landscapes pulled from my mind, as well as big bright colorful flowers painted from life or pulled from my imagination, and more often than not an abstract combination of it all. One thing is true, I love painting with bright colors, bold lines, and an energetic...sometimes wild brushstroke. I hope you enjoy this peek into my mind. Every painting is a glimpse into the beautiful madness of my creativity.
